ABOUT ME

B5178C60-7F41-41C7-B343-7201E9E98BA3_1_1

Hi, I'm Matthew, but you might know me as Squatch—a nickname that’s stuck because of my last name and unproportionately large feet. I’m based in California, where the sun and surf often inspire my writing. Poetry is where my heart truly lies. I love playing with words to capture fleeting moments, raw emotions, and the beauty in the everyday. My poems often explore themes of connection, nature, and the small yet significant experiences that shape our lives.

Beyond poetry, I dive into creative writing and short stories, always experimenting with new ways to craft a narrative. My dream is to one day share my work with the world as a published author.

Fun fact: I have a fake front tooth, a quirky detail that’s become a part of my story, much like my three dogs and my amazing sister. Thanks for visiting my creative space!

MY PICK
OF THE MONTH

Into The Wild  by Jon Krakauer is this month's book pick because it resonates with my love for adventure, introspection, and the pursuit of meaning. The story of Christopher McCandless, who abandons societal norms to seek a deeper connection with nature, is both inspiring and haunting. Krakauer's exploration of McCandless's journey challenges us to reflect on our own lives, the choices we make, and the freedom that lies beyond conventional expectations. This book captures the essence of what it means to truly live, making it a compelling and thought-provoking read.
